Travel Dubrovnik in Croatia Jewels of the Mediterranean

The city of Dubrovnik is an old historical city on the south of Croatia which is situated on the eastern coast of Adriatic Sea. Dubrovnik is one of the most famous and most attractive cities in the Mediterranean. Dubrovnik has a pleasant Mediterranean climate with 2600 hours of sunshine annually. In 1979 Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
The coastline is full of beautiful and arranged beaches which are proud owners of Blue Flag for the high environmental standards and rich infrastructure.
Dubrovnik is filled with historical content. The old town is a real historical core with Stradun, Rector's Palace, Church of Saint Blaise, Sponza Palace, Orlando Column and another historical churches and city streets.
Stradun is the largest and most famous street in the town that divides the core of the old town on northern and southern part. It is a popular promenade and a gathering place. Stradun presents the unique urban component of the city.

The city is surrounded with city walls which are 1940 meters long. They encompass five fortresses and sixteen towers and bastions. It is the second most attractive open air museum on the world. The walls are open for visitors throughout entire year.
On 37 meters high rock, west of the Old town, Lovrjenac Fort is situated. The fort is a symbol of Dubrovnik's freedom and survival. Today, the fortress is used for theatre; in the summer there is a stage for theatrical performances and especially for William Shakespeare's plays.
The Church of Saint Blaise is the symbol of the city and Saint Blaise is the patron saint of the city.
The Orlando Column is a column from the fifteen century with medieval knight character holding a sword in his hand. It is located on the square between the Sponza Palace and the Church of Saint Blaise.
The Mount Srd is 413 meters high and rises northwards from Dubrovnik. Imperial fort is located on the top which provides a magnificent view on Dubrovnik and its surroundings.
In the city, you can enjoy the Mediterranean gastronomy. Visit some of the restaurants in the old part of the city and enjoy the tastes of food and wines.
In Dubrovnik, especially on Stradun, you can see rich and famous people which usually spend their summer holidays on luxurious yachts, anchored in front of romantic Lokrum.
