Torres del Paine National Park is a park in the Magallanes Region in Chile. Chile is a country that occupies the border of western South America. This park was established in 1959. It is a national park that has many lakes, waterfalls, glaciers, rivers, forests and wildlife. The Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia is an amazing, wonderful and beautiful place to visit. It was declared a Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO in 1978. There are many things to do and many sites to see and places to visit. The Cordillera del Paine is a breathtakingly small mountain group in the Torres del Paine National Park. The exact elevations are unknown, but some claim the highest elevation to be about 3,050 meters. The three Towers of Paine are the most spectacular to see. They are huge granite monoliths shaped by glacier ice.









When visiting this national park in Chilean Patagonia, there are many hotels and lounges you can stay at. They can be found in the cities of Torres del Paine, Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas. When visiting the park, you can find a tour guide and decide to travel with them. They are very informed on the region, and you will be sure to see and experience everything. Visitation is recommended between October and April. The park is open all year around; however, this time of year is considered to be spring and summertime in the southern part of South America. The temperatures are great and the daylight hours are long. When people visit this park in Chile, they will find many activities to do. Some include climbing, fly fishing, sailing, horseback riding, kayaking, ice-walking, trekking, mountaineering, photography and taking advantage of the tours.
The region is popular for its animals, especially the fauna. There are many bird of prey species here as well. The environment is quite diverse and that means that there are many different species of animals here to see. Some include foxes, pumas, guanacos, huemels, condors, buzzards, sparrows, penguins, butterflies and woodpeckers, to name a few. Camping is permitted in some areas; however, wood fires are prohibited in the park. Hiking is a huge activity, but hikers must stay on the track so as not to get lost. Camp refuges can be found in the park for those who choose to stay overnight and take advantage of the hiking and mountaineering experiences.
